Speaking at a dinner for investors and businesspeople during the IFTM Top Resa 2025 trade fair, which concludes today in Paris, France, David Collado, Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, asserted that there is no other destination like the Dominican Republic.
In presenting the “Dominican Republic smiles at you” campaign, he highlighted the commitment of the land of merengue to biodiversity, sports and cultural tourism, its good and hardworking people, who laugh, innovate and create.
The official explained that the Dominican Republic is a peaceful country, the safest in all of Latin America, and boasts world-class hotels, spas,cuisine.
New flights
After concluding a press conference to announce three new flight frequencies from Air Caraibes from Paris to Samaná and Punta Cana, Collado said that 600 meetings were held yesterday, Wednesday, with hotel chains responding that this has been a very important fair, more for business than for leisure.
“The fair is going very well; we expect to reach 11,500,000 visitors. We are projecting that number by the end of the year,” he said, estimating that it would be a 3% increase compared to 2024.
The official noted that variations may occur, such as Russia opening up to the Dominican Republic, since it is a number that could move the needle considerably, because Russians are desperate to travel to the Dominican Republic and there are about 500,000 a year who visited the country and about 100,000 Ukrainians.
David Collado projects that this will bethe best year ever for tourism in the Dominican Republic. By August, 8.5 million visitors had already arrived.
Marc Rochect, president of Air Caraibes, announced yesterday alongside Collado that the French airline will add three new flights to its frequencies in the Dominican Republic, bringing the total to 10 flights from Paris to Samaná and Punta Cana.
Air Caraibes will fly with its Airbus A350s, which are the best and most modern aircraft in Europe, Rochect said alongside airline executives.
The airline operates seven flights to the country via Punta Cana, but Rochect said the minister requested another route in December, which will be launched either directly or with connections in the Caribbean. Air Caraibes will fly to Samaná on December 15.
